Description
Labor & Delivery RN
Overview
- Travel contract in Los Angeles, California
- 13-week contract
- 12-hour day shifts
- 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in California
- BLS
- ACLS
- NRP
- AWHONN
- 2 full years of Labor & Delivery experience
- Experience with high-risk deliveries
- Experience with circulating for C-sections
Preferred
- C-section scrubbing experience
- Travel experience
Unit Details
- Unit: L&D/PP - Perinatal
- 12 L&D beds
- 10 triage beds
- 12 antepartum beds
- About 200 births per month
Schedule and Work Expectations
- Every other weekend
- One major and two minor holidays
- First to float
- Floating to antepartum and postpartum
- 3 shifts of unit orientation
Clinical Environment
- High-risk patient population including blood pressure issues, multiples, diabetes, no prenatal care, and substance abuse
- Fetal Link fetal monitoring system
- Cerner EMR
- Ratios follow AWHONN guidelines
- Charge nurse takes a patient assignment if needed
- 2 scheduled OB techs per shift
- RT available 24/7 from NICU
- Pharmacy available 24/7
- No call requirement
- No vents
- No IV team
Additional Notes
- Must be familiar with pitocin, mag sulfate, and insulin drips
- Acrylic or overlay nails are not allowed during the assignment
