NICU RN
Overview
- Travel contract in Santa Maria, California
- 13-week contract
- Nights, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
- Unit: NICU, Level 3 NICU
- NICU has 21 beds
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in California
- BLS
- ACLS
- NRP
- 2 full years of NICU experience
Preferred
- PALS
- STABLE
- Cooling experience
- Experience with Mother Baby
- Experience with pediatrics
Assignment Details
- Ratios: 1:1 to 1:3 in NICU
- No nurse aides
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend
- Holidays: 2 major holidays
- Scrub color: Navy
- EMR: Cerner
- Tele: Phillips tele, not required to read it
- Vents used include oscillators, Draeger, CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula
- RT and Pharmacy are available 24/7
- Call may occur during low census as standby
- Floating may include Nursery and Peds; Mother Baby only if the nurse has that experience
- Orientation: 2-3 shifts in NICU, 2 shifts in Peds
- Common patient population includes 23 weeks and above, feeders/growers, and no ECMO
- Must be comfortable with high frequency oscillators and vents
