MedSurg/Tele 2 North

Role

Travel RN for a MedSurg/Tele unit with 38 beds, including 8 Tele beds.

Required Qualifications

• 2 years of experience
• Active BLS
• Active ACLS
• Active NIHSS
• Active CA License
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
• Must be competent in at least Amiodarone and Diltiazem drips
• Dysrhythmia Exam (Basic) through UNA must be completed within 24-48 hours before acceptance, with two attempts allowed

Schedule

• 13-week contract
• 12-hour day shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend
• Holidays rotate with core staff
• First to float

Unit Details

• Ratios: 1:5
• Charge nurse generally does not take patients, but does break relief
• Nurse aides available as census and staffing dictates
• Tele capability required
• Floating is to Tele
• EMR: Cerner
• Vents: No
• Hospitalist or Intensivist in house
• RT 24/7
• Pharmacy 24/7
• Floor orientation: 1-2 days with preceptor
• Common patient types: general MedSurg, post-op general, and ortho patients
• Fast-paced unit with a 2 hallway layout

Additional Notes

• Holiday time off may be considered but is not guaranteed
• Travelers work 2 of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s
• Facility-wide orientation is held the first week in Sacramento, not in Grass Valley
