Floating between Med Surg, PCU, ED boarding, and TBLs (temporary bed locations) units

Required Qualifications

2 full years of experience
Active BLS
Active ACLS
WA License or Compact License

Preferred Qualifications

NIHSS

Schedule / Work Expectations

Orientation/education hours are not guaranteed during the first 2 weeks; expect 25+ hours
Every other weekend
Holidays required
Floor-specific orientation provided
5:1 ratios; may increase to 6:1 during inpatient boarding

Clinical / Unit Details

Tele monitors used
Nurses are responsible for reviewing strips
Drips include Heparin, Cardizem, Insulin, and Narcotics (Comfort)
No vents
Hospitalist or Intensivist in house
RT 24/7
Pharmacy 24/7
Charge nurse present
Nurse aides typically 4–5 per shift
Common patient types include CHF, COPD, Cellulitis, ETOH Withdrawal, Kidney, Dementia, and CVA
Close observation is provided through camera monitoring
