Overview

• Travel assignment for an experienced ER RN in California.
• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• Unit has 11 beds/trauma bays.
• Critical Access Hospital, Level III verified trauma center.

Required Qualifications

• Active BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and CA license.
• 2+ years of ER experience within the last 3 years.

Preferred

• Desirable to ICU, but not required.

Schedule

• 12-hour nights: 1900-0730.
• Every other weekend.
• Holiday requirement: yes.
• Possibly 3 call/cut shifts per 13-week contract.

Unit Details

• 1 triage room; traveler would be expected to do triage.
• No separate holding area; ER nurses manage their own holds.
• No fast track.
• No separate psych/seclusion rooms.
• In-house security: yes.
• 20-40 patients per day.
• State ratio no more than 1:4.
• 1 MD on at all times.
• No charge nurse; 1 house supervisor at all times.
• Unit techs available 1200-2030.
• No monitor techs; RNs read strips.
• No transport team; CT and X-ray are immediately adjacent.
• Phlebotomy available; RN draws if starting IVs.
• RT supports vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow NC, and Airvo; RT also does ABGs, breathing treatments, and EKGs.
• Navy blue scrubs.
• Unit-specific orientation provided.
• First to float.
