We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Respiratory Therapist to provide top-quality care in a fast-paced LTAC setting. This traveler role involves intensive respiratory care and patient transport, with minimal supervision, while following prescribed medical plans.

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate patients and develop individualized respiratory treatment plans

• Educate patients on treatments, procedures, and equipment use, including discharge instruction

• Administer physician-prescribed treatments using ventilators, oxygen devices, nebulizers, and more

• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning (nasal, oral, tracheal)

• Conduct oximetry and capnography monitoring, 12-lead EKGs, and interpret chest x-rays

• Perform pulmonary function studies (e.g., NIF, VC) and support bronchoscopy, trach care, and chest tube placement

• Provide tracheostomy care (emergent and routine), and perform arterial punctures for blood gas analysis

• Follow lab testing protocols in moderate complexity labs including specimen handling and documentation

• Execute BLS and ACLS protocols, including CPR and airway management

• Insert and remove endotracheal tubes as needed

• Operate, test, and maintain all ventilatory equipment and assist with preventative maintenance

• Document assessments, treatments, and responses per hospital protocol

• Communicate effectively with physicians and team members during shift reports and clinical updates

• Accurately charge respiratory therapy procedures and correct data as needed

Requirements:

• Active Iowa Respiratory Therapist license (or eligibility)

• BLS and ACLS certification

• Minimum of 1 year recent experience in acute care or LTAC preferred

• Strong critical thinking, ventilator management, and airway care skills
