Job Description

• Serve as a highly trained Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) collaborating with surgeons and the healthcare team to ensure safe operations and optimal patient outcomes.
• Practice perioperative nursing with specific knowledge, skill, and judgment in the operating room and RNFA role.
• Work under the direction of the surgeon during the operative phase.
• Perform duties of OR staff RN when not assigned as RNFA.
• Combined circulating/scrubbing and RNFA role.
• Robotic surgery experience preferred.
• No weekend shifts; evening call and rotating holiday coverage required.
• Monday-Friday day shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week.
• On-call responsibilities until 11 pm as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license (New York State only).
• CNOR certification.
• Completion of an accredited RN First Assistant program.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association).
• Minimum 2 years of experience (or experience in a Level 1 trauma center preferred).
• Proficient in perioperative nursing practice; scrubbing and circulating experience preferred.
• Experience with DaVinci robotic surgery required, including:

  • Robotic Urology
  • Robotic Gynecology
  • Robotic Colorectal
  • Robotic Surgical Oncology (e.g., Whipples, gastrectomies, hernias)
  • Robotic Thoracic
  • Robotic General Surgery (e.g., gallbladders, appendectomies)

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS certification (American Heart Association).
• Experience in Level 1 trauma center.
