Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist

Job Description

• Provide quality patient care delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed.
• Evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans.
• Explain treatments, tests, and equipment to patients; provide education upon discharge.
• Conduct physician-prescribed respiratory treatments using various ventilatory equipment (invasive and non-invasive), oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal).
• Monitor patients using oximetry and capnography.
• Review chest x-rays to assess need for further evaluation.
• Perform 12-Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition.
• Conduct pulmonary function studies (e.g., NIF, VC).
• Assist with respiratory procedures (bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, percutaneous tracheostomy).
• Manage chest drainage devices (e.g., PleurX catheter).
• Provide tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tubes.
• Perform arterial puncture and assess ventilation efficiency.
• Follow laboratory testing policies related to respiratory care.
• Perform CPR according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Insert and remove endotracheal tubes using free hand or video laryngoscope techniques.
• Set up, maintain, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment.
• Assist with equipment maintenance and repairs.
• Document treatments and patient responses accurately.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and during shift hand-offs.
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy billing and data entry.
• Perform other assigned duties as needed.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Ohio
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
• Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year

Additional Information

• Night shift position.
• Immediate start available.
• 48-hour assignment duration (likely referring to shift length or scheduling detail).
