Job Opportunity: RN Oncology - Hemo
Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Registered Nurse (Direct Care)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
Under general supervision, provide nursing care to patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex. Responsibilities include:
- Managing an assigned group of patients.
- Documenting patient responses to nursing interventions and medical treatments.
- Assisting physicians with patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.
- Monitoring physiological data and intervening as necessary.
- Administering prescribed medications.
- Initiating, regulating, and monitoring intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Delivering competent patient care.
- Communicating care plans to patients and families during hospitalization and at discharge.
- Informing patients and families about hospital procedures.
- Referring patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Delegating tasks to support staff.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Oklahoma
- Hematology/Oncology nursing experience of at least 1 year within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate
- Stepdown experience
Skills
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
- Some computer skills.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (or higher) from a Board Approved Program.
