Description

CT Scan Technologist

Location: Hackensack, New Jersey
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Shift: Night (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Schedule: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day

  • Every third weekend required
  • Holidays as needed
  • No on-call required
  • Flexibility with schedule expected

Job Summary

The CT Scan Technologist performs complex computed tomography procedures, producing sectional and 3D images for interpretation. Responsibilities include assisting with interventional and therapeutic procedures, reviewing patient clinical history, administering contrast media, verifying exam prescriptions, and ensuring image quality and patient safety throughout the scanning process.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complex CT procedures using professional judgment
  • Review and document patient clinical history and contrast questionnaires
  • Administer contrast media as prescribed and monitor patient for adverse reactions
  • Verify exam prescriptions and communicate with physicians as needed
  • Obtain and schedule outside imaging studies for comparison
  • Prepare patients for scanning, including shielding and immobilization
  • Perform venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures
  • Evaluate radiographs for diagnostic quality using PACS system
  • Communicate effectively with patients and caregivers, adapting to their needs (age, culture, language, disabilities)
  • Adhere to departmental policies on attendance, behavior, and safety
  • Lift at least 25 lbs., push/pull 50 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 6 hours per shift

Required Qualifications

  • Valid CT Technologist license in New Jersey
  • Minimum of 1 year of CT Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • ARRT certification
  • Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program or High School diploma or equivalent
  • Understanding of mechanical attributes of CT software and hardware

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Ability to push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for at least 6 hours per shift

Contract Length

  • Approximately 5 weeks

Additional Notes

  • Night shift position with a consistent schedule
  • No on-call duties, but holiday and weekend work required
  • Overtime may be needed to maintain quality patient care
