RN - Labor & Delivery
Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Night (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM), every other weekend
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
As a Registered Nurse in Labor & Delivery, you will be responsible for providing safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care. You will assess, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care while promoting quality outcomes and customer satisfaction. The role includes supervising licensed and non-licensed staff, mentoring and precepting, and participating in quality and safety improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments, making sound independent clinical decisions.
- Develop, prioritize, implement, and revise plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
- Provide education tailored to patient and family needs throughout the stay and at discharge.
- Delegate tasks and foster teamwork among staff; serve as a mentor and preceptor.
- Participate in quality, safety, and service improvement processes and comply with regulatory standards.
- Recognize complex patient data to prioritize care and anticipate discharge needs.
- Address cultural and ethnic considerations in care planning.
- Utilize evidence-based practice and contribute to staff education and research discussions.
- Promote a safe, clean, and secure environment for patients and staff.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license in Kentucky.
- Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience within the last year.
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and EFM.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Acute Care nursing experience.
- Experience with Epic electronic medical records system.
- Demonstrated commitment to service process improvement.
- Cultural competence in patient care.
- Application of evidence-based practice in clinical settings.
