Registered Nurse - Medicine Specialty

Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Direct Care Registered Nurse
Shift: 12-hour shifts, 48 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Provide nursing care under general supervision to patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex in a hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage care for an assigned group of patients.
• Document patient responses to nursing interventions and medical treatments; note changes in physician orders.
• Assist physicians with patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.
• Obtain and monitor patients’ physiological data; intervene as necessary.
• Administer prescribed medications, intravenous infusions, and blood products.
• Deliver competent patient care and communicate care plans to patients and families during hospitalization and discharge.
• Inform patients and families about hospital procedures.
• Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
• Delegate tasks to support staff.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma.
• Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year.
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience.
• Minimum 1 year of travel nursing experience.
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher from a board-approved program preferred.
• Level one preferred (likely referring to patient acuity or certification level).

Work Hours

• 12-hour shifts, totaling 48 hours per week.
