Description

CT Scan Technologist

Location: Hackensack, New Jersey
Contract Length: 11 weeks
Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Hours: 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week
Schedule: Every third weekend; must be willing to cover 1 weekend of on-call obligations if needed


Job Summary

  • Perform complex CT procedures, producing sectional and 3D images for interpretation
  • Assist with interventional and therapeutic procedures
  • Review and obtain patient clinical history, document in PACS
  • Prepare, screen, and review contrast questionnaires with patients/families, document in EPIC
  • Administer contrast media as prescribed by licensed practitioners
  • Verify exam prescriptions and communicate with Radiologists and Referring Physicians as needed
  • Verify insurance authorization and coordinate exam modifications
  • Obtain and schedule outside studies for Radiologist comparison
  • Provide exam copies to patients and requesting parties
  • Evaluate radiographs for proper identification and diagnostic quality using PACS
  • Prepare patients for scanning including shielding and immobilization
  • Determine appropriate contrast type and dose
  • Perform venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance per guidelines
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions during procedures
  • Lift minimum 25 lbs, push/pull minimum 50 lbs, stand minimum 6 hours/day
  • Communicate effectively with diverse patient populations, adapting to age, culture, language, and disabilities
  • Adhere to departmental policies including attendance, punctuality, and standards of behavior
  • Participate in scheduled shifts including holidays, weekends, overtime, and on-call assignments

Required Qualifications

Education & Licenses

  • Completion of a Radiologic Technologist program or High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid CT Technologist license in New Jersey
  • ARRT certification

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of CT Technologist experience, including experience within the last year

Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift at least 25 lbs, push/pull 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand for at least 6 hours per day

Additional Information

  • Must be available for overnight shifts and flexible with weekend/on-call coverage
  • Commitment to maintaining continuing education credits (CEUs)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and caregivers at appropriate developmental and literacy levels
