Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Surgery

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexible)
• Call: Based on department needs; currently 1-2 shifts per weekday and one weekend on-call per four-week schedule (Friday 3:00 PM to Monday 6:30 AM)
• Holidays: Covered by call based on department needs

  • Travel experience preferred
• Additional Requirements: May need to float onsite within skill set or to sites within 40 miles if needed

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience in robotic surgery
• Experience in OB/GYN
• Experience in orthopedic surgery
• Experience in transplant surgery
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements

• Professional credentials including resume/profile and at least two professional references
• Signed assignment agreement and confirmation of assignment
• Criminal background check and EPLS (Exclusionary Party List System) screening
• Employment and education verifications
• Driver’s license or state ID (valid and matching address requirements)
• Health and immunization documentation:

  • MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
  • Influenza vaccine during flu season (mask required if declined)
  • Varicella immunity (two vaccines or serological evidence; no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap vaccine (valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted)
  • Tuberculosis screening (2-step PPD or IGRA, chest X-ray if positive, annual TB questionnaire)
  • Health statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
• Drug screening: 12-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
• Fit test for respiratory protection (3M 1860 Regular, 1860 Small, or 1870+ masks)
• Specialty and core competency exams with minimum passing scores, updated regularly
• Color vision test, EKG exam, and unit-specific checklists as required
• Completion of Epic test-out and training checklist with signed attestation

Additional Notes

• Must be able to meet all onboarding requirements prior to or at the start of the assignment
• Flexibility to work call shifts and float to other nearby sites as needed
• Commitment to maintaining all required certifications and compliance documentation throughout the assignment

This position is ideal for experienced surgical RNs who are comfortable with a variety of surgical specialties, have experience with electronic health records (EPIC), and are open to travel assignments with flexible scheduling and call responsibilities.
