Job Opportunity: RN NICU - Massachusetts (Newton)
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Location: Newton, Massachusetts
- Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 36-hour rotating shifts based on unit needs
- Primarily 7:15 PM to 7:15 AM
- Possible rotation to day shifts (7:00 AM to 7:30 PM) as needed (not guaranteed)
- Rotating weekends and holidays
Required Credentials and Certifications
- Professional Licenses:
- Valid nursing license with primary source verification (NURSYS and Board of Nursing required)
- Massachusetts Conditional Licenses are NOT accepted
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military accepted; AHA preferred
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military accepted; AHA preferred
- Health and Safety:
- Fit Test for N95 respirator within 365 days of start date; updated annually (no religious exemptions)
- Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30); no exemptions
- TB test (skin test or blood test) within 3 months of start date; updated if >6 month break
- MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
- Health Statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date; updated if >6 month break
- Hepatitis B vaccination or proof of immunity strongly preferred
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
- Additional Testing and Orientation:
- MGB Medication Exam with 80% passing score within 365 days
- MGB NWH Self-Study Orientation & Attestation (mandatory before onboarding)
- Respirator Medical Clearance Attestation (part of Fit Test documentation)
- Background and Compliance Checks:
- Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start; updated if >6 month break
- Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start; updated if >6 month break
- National Sex Offender Registry check within 30 days prior to start; updated annually
- Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start; updated annually
- Social Security Number trace as part of background check
- Professional Documentation:
- Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state
- Two recent references (minimum one supervisor or above in skillset)
- Skills checklist
- Candidate submission coversheet
- Confirmation of assignment/POI form upon acceptance and for extensions
- Education verification (highest level achieved)
Optional but Recommended
- Documentation of positive PPD with negative chest X-ray if applicable
- TB symptom survey if positive PPD
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination form
This position requires a highly qualified RN with NICU experience, able to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. Compliance with all health, safety, and credentialing requirements is mandatory prior to onboarding.
