Job Opportunity: RN ICU (MICU) - Massachusetts

Position Details

• Specialty: RN ICU (Medical Intensive Care Unit)
• Location: Salem, Massachusetts
• Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit and Patient Care Information

• Unit: Level III Trauma Center, 20-bed Medical/Surgical ICU (MICU)
• Patient Population: Adult patients with conditions such as Substance Abuse/Overdose, severe Psychiatric conditions, DKA, Sepsis, GI bleed, Respiratory Failure, Cardiac Arrest, Renal Failure, Cardiogenic Shock
• RN to Patient Ratio:

  • ICU: 1:2 or 1:1 for high acuity patients
  • Med/Surg Floating: 1:4 or 1:5
• Floating: Required, primarily to Medical/Surgical units (up to 4-5 patients)
• Shifts: Rotating MICU RN Nights & Every Other Weekend (EOW), 36 hours per week

  • Day shifts rotate between 7a-7p, 11a-11p, or 7p-7a as needed
  • Night shift does not rotate
• Charting System: EPIC

Experience and Certification Requirements

• Experience:

  • Minimum 3+ years of general ICU experience
  • At least 2 years of continuous MICU experience in one location
  • Must be able to read telemetry strips
• Licensure:

  • Active Massachusetts RN License (MA Conditional Licenses not accepted)
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• Additional Competencies:

  • Telemetry competency required

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Fit Test: N95 respirator fit test within 365 days of start date, updated annually
• Immunizations and Tests:

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or proof of immunity
  • Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30), no exemptions
  • TB test (skin test or blood test) within 3 months of start date, updated if >6 month break
  • Hepatitis B vaccination strongly preferred
  • Tdap vaccine preferred (within 10 years)
• Health Statement: Physician statement within 365 days of start date, updated if >6 month break
• Criminal Background Checks:

  • MGB Criminal Background Check within 45 days prior to start
  • Massachusetts CORI check within 30 days prior to start
  • National Sex Offender Check within 30 days prior to start
  • Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start and annually

This position is ideal for experienced ICU nurses with strong telemetry skills, comfortable with floating to med/surg units, and able to work rotating shifts including nights and weekends.
