Registered Nurse (RN) Telemetry I - Long-Term Assignment
Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on a 32-bed Orthopedic/Neuro Med/Surg telemetry unit.
- Unit admits scheduled elective orthopedic and neuro/surgical patients, fractures, neuro patients, and medical overflow.
- Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.
- Floating to other applicable units as requested.
- Rotating shifts for day positions (possible shifts: 7a-7p, 11a-11p, or 7p-7a); night positions do not rotate.
- Patient ratio: Day and evening shifts typically 1:4 (may go up to 1:5), night shift 1:5 or 1:6.
- Charting system: EPIC.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts.
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Neuro assessment skills.
- Telemetry competency.
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Documentation of TB screening within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test) and updated if there is a break longer than 6 months.
- Physician health statement within 1 year of start date, updated if >6 month break.
- MMR vaccination or proof of immunity required.
- Hepatitis B vaccination or proof of immunity strongly preferred.
- Tdap vaccination preferred (within 10 years).
- Criminal background checks including state and national sex offender registry, CORI, and exclusion checks required within specified timeframes.
- Education verification required.
- Skills checklist, medication exam (80% passing), and dysrhythmia exam (80% passing) must be completed within 1 year of submission.
- Resume with 7 years of work experience and 2 professional references required.
- Submission coversheet required for initial assignment.
Additional Notes
- Night shifts do not rotate; day shifts may rotate among specified shift times.
- Floating to other units is mandatory when requested.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
This position is ideal for experienced telemetry RNs comfortable with neuro and med/surg patient populations, telemetry strip interpretation, and flexible shift rotations.
