Registered Nurse - Step Down Unit (Med Surg)
Location: Newton, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- 36-hour night shifts
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:15 PM - 7:15 AM)
- Includes holiday and weekend rotation
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts
- Minimum of 1 year of Stepdown experience, with recent Stepdown experience within the last year
- Med Surg experience
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Submission Requirements
- Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state
- Two references within 4 years, at least one supervisor or higher in the skillset
- Skills checklist completed within 1 year
- Candidate submission coversheet (current version)
Onboarding Requirements
- License/certification primary source verification within 30 days of start date
- Fit test and respirator medical clearance attestation uploaded
- Health and background documentation as listed above
- Confirmation of assignment form upon acceptance and for any start date changes
- Education verification through background check company
Additional Notes
- No MA conditional licenses accepted
- Fit testing cannot be done onsite; must be completed prior to start
- TB test must be updated if there is a break in service longer than 6 months
- Background checks include international residence or travel exceeding 30 consecutive days within last 7 years
- Positive TB skin test requires negative chest x-ray documentation (optional but recommended)
This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with night shifts in a step-down/med-surg setting, who meet comprehensive credentialing and health requirements.
