Job Description

  • Position available for ICU Critical Care nurses specializing in Open Heart cases.
  • Hiring 3 RNs for Day shift and 3 RNs for Night shift.
  • Responsibilities include safe patient care using nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Provide direct patient care within scope of practice.
  • Guide patient/family teaching and supervise other nursing personnel.
  • Maintain standards of care in the ICU.
  • Communicate with physicians regarding patient condition changes, hemodynamic monitoring, diagnostic results, and symptomatology.
  • Respond quickly and accurately to patient condition changes or treatment responses.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Experience:

    • Open Heart experience required.
    • Ability to manage general ICU patients and recover open heart cases.
    • Minimum 1 year as a staff RN in acute care hospital critical care.
  • Licenses & Certifications:

    • Current and valid New Jersey RN License.
    • BLS (American Heart Association or Red Cross).
    • ACLS (American Heart Association or Red Cross).
    • Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification preferred.
  • Health & Safety:

    • COVID-19 vaccination and boosters preferred.
    • Other immunizations and health requirements as per facility policy (see below).
  • Other:

    • No guaranteed hours (per diem position).

Onboarding & Credential Requirements

  • Licenses & Certifications:

    • Valid RN license verified via Nursys.
    • BLS and ACLS certifications.
    • Critical Care RN (CCRN) preferred but not mandatory.
    • Driver’s License, State ID, or Passport.
  • Exams & Testing:

    • Prime Basic Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80%).
    • Prime Basic Rhythm Interpretation Screening (minimum 80%).
    • Prime Core Competencies Exam (minimum 80%).
    • Prime Skills Checklist.
    • Prime Specialty Exam (minimum 80%).
  • Health Requirements:

    • COVID-19 Vaccine (2 doses + booster or declination).
    • MMR (proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer).
    • Annual Respirator Fit Test.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination (declinations may not be accepted at some locations).
    • Influenza Vaccine or declination (seasonal requirement).
    • TB Test.
    • Varicella vaccination or immunity proof.
    • Tdap vaccination (declinations may not be accepted at some locations).
    • Physical/Health Statement (clear to work, annual).
    • Drug Screening (minimum 10-panel test including THC, with specific requirements for CA locations).
  • Background & Compliance:

    • National Criminal Background Check within one year.
    • Prime OIG and SAM/EPLS exclusion checks.
    • Prime Agency Attestation.
    • Prime Form I-9 (Employment eligibility verification).
    • Prime Job Description signed by employee.
    • Workplace Violence Prevention training (DCI/BVP).

Summary

This is a per diem RN position in the CVICU at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Passaic, NJ, requiring ICU and open heart experience. Candidates must hold current RN licensure, BLS, ACLS, and preferably CCRN certification.
