Job Opportunity: RN Emergency Room (Travel)

Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Facility: Salem Hospital, Mass General Brigham

Position Details

• Unit: Emergency Department
• Unit Description: 65-bed Emergency Department, pod-based layout with separate pediatric pod and acute mental health area
• Shift: Days/Eves/Nights rotate every other week (EOW), 36 hours per week
• Shift Times: Day rotate includes 7a-7p, 11a-11p, and 7p-7a shifts (rotation frequency low); night position does not rotate
• Floating: Required
• Clinician to Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Patient Population: All ages and conditions
• Daily Census: Approximately 230 visits per day
• EMR System: EPIC – ASAP

Experience & Skills Required

• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Nursing experience
• General ED nursing skills including:

  • Patient assessment and documentation
  • IV therapy and phlebotomy
  • EKG and cardiac monitoring
  • Point of care testing
  • Splinting
  • Critical thinking
  • Patient education

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) preferred
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) strongly preferred

Credentialing & Compliance Requirements

• Valid nursing license with primary source verification (MA Conditional Licenses not accepted)
• N95 fit test within 365 days of start date, updated annually
• MGB Medication Exam (80% passing within 365 days)
• MGB Advanced Dysrhythmia Exam (80% passing)
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or immunity proof
  • TB test within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test)
  • Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days
  • Influenza vaccine during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity (strongly preferred)
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years (preferred)
• Criminal background checks including:

  • MGB Criminal Background Check
  • Massachusetts CORI check
  • National Sex Offender Registry check
  • Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, Medicaid exclusion lists)
• Respirator Medical Clearance Attestation
• Documentation of work experience and education for the past 7 years
• References: Minimum 2 recent references, at least 1 supervisor or above
• Skills checklist and candidate submission coversheet required for submission

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

This role is ideal for experienced Emergency Department RNs who are comfortable with rotating shifts, floating, and working in a high-volume, diverse patient population environment. The position requires strong clinical skills, certifications, and compliance with comprehensive credentialing and health requirements.
