Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: Nights & Every Other Weekend (36 hours/week)

Job Description

• Role: Float Pool Med/Surg Telemetry RN
• Floating: Must be willing to float to 8 different units within the hospital, including Med/Surg Tele areas, ED, acute mental health unit, and ICU (non-vented, transfer-ready patients).
• Units Covered: Davenport 5, 7, 8, 9, ED, PH6/7, Pingree 4, Overflow
• Patient Population: ED border patients, acute mental health medication nursing, non-vented ICU patients
• Bed Count: 371 total beds; units range from 8 to 41 beds
• Clinician to Patient Ratio:

  • Days & Evenings: up to 5:1
  • Nights: up to 6:1

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years of acute care hospital experience preferred
• Proficient in telemetry monitoring, including measuring intervals and interpreting strips every 4 hours
• Experience with cardiac drips and reading telemetry strips required
• TR Band experience preferred

Certifications & Licenses

• Current Massachusetts RN License (no conditional licenses accepted)
• BLS (American Heart Association, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military accepted; AHA preferred)
• TB test within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test)
• Fit Test for N95 respirator within 365 days of start date, updated annually
• MGB Medication Exam (80% passing within 365 days)
• MGB Dysrhythmia Exam (80% passing)
• Health Statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days
• Criminal background checks including Massachusetts CORI, SSN Trace, National Sex Offender Check, and Exclusion Checks required
• Additional immunizations and health requirements:

  • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccination or proof of immunity
  • Influenza vaccine during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30)
  • TB symptom survey if positive PPD
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or proof of immunity strongly preferred
  • Tdap vaccine preferred

Systems & Documentation

• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
• Documentation and credential verification required prior to onboarding and/or submission

Additional Notes

• Must be willing to float across multiple units within the hospital
• Assignment requires adherence to all hospital and state health and safety regulations
• Required to complete various credentialing, background checks, and health screenings before start date

This position is ideal for experienced telemetry RNs comfortable with floating and managing diverse patient populations in a fast-paced hospital environment.
