Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Facility: Salem Hospital, Mass General Brigham
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Role: Nursing Supervisor
• Hours: 36 hours per week, rotating Days/Evens/Nights every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH)
• Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative, operational, and clinical oversight across all services during assigned shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Serve as the clinical resource and patient care representative on-site.
  • Collaborate with medical staff, ancillary support, and clinical services to ensure optimal patient care and environment.
  • Supervise patient care, verify nursing practices, and provide guidance to nursing staff.
  • Conduct rounds, especially focusing on high-acuity patients, and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Manage patient/family concerns and complaints during off-shifts.
  • Coordinate with support services, emergency, admitting, and clinical teams to address patient care and environmental needs.
  • Notify Administrator-On-Call of serious incidents or disasters.

Required Skills & Experience

• Must be able to read Telemetry strips and perform cardiac drips including medication titration.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with diverse groups.
• Minimum 3+ years of advanced Medical/Surgical Telemetry nursing experience. Critical care nursing experience preferred.
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system.

Education & Licensure

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.
• Current, active Massachusetts RN license in good standing.

Certifications Required

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Additional Requirements & Compliance

• Must complete and maintain:

  • N95 Fit Test (updated annually)
  • Medication Exam (80% passing within 365 days)
  • MMR vaccination or immunity proof
  • TB screening (skin test or blood test within 3 months of start date)
  • Health Statement signed by a licensed provider within 365 days
  • Criminal background checks including CORI, SSN trace, National Sex Offender Check, and Exclusion Checks
  • Influenza vaccine during flu season (optional but strongly recommended)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity proof (strongly preferred)
  • Other health and compliance documentation as required by Mass General Brigham policies
