Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical Oncology Nights

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Details

  • Unit: Medical Surgical Oncology (Nights)
  • Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted
  • Weekend Requirement: 2 shifts every other weekend
    • Day shift: every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
    • Night shift: either Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday depending on rotation
  • Certifications Required:
    • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIH Stroke Certification
    • Fire Safety
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs
  • Block Schedule: Not accommodated
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted (local radius rule: 75 miles)
  • Pending License: Accepted
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (3 shifts of 12 hours)
  • Special Requirements:
    • EPIC charting experience required
    • Experience with Medical/Surgical/Oncology patients

Licensure & Background

  • Primary source verification of professional nursing license (Missouri licenses verified via NURSYS)
  • Criminal background check within 6 months, including:
    • Statewide searches
    • MO State Highway Patrol check
    • Nationwide and international searches if applicable
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG quarterly checks
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree (no pending at start)
  • Fingerprinting required for Illinois long-term care or rehab float assignments (not required for Missouri)

Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for all nurses)
  • Fire Safety Certification
  • Other certifications as applicable per unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, CPI/MAB if applicable)

Competencies

  • Unit-specific competency exam including Oncology competency exam (must be updated annually)
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable

Health Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask testing (N95 required, annual renewal)
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tdap (or Td for renewals)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (2 negative PPDs or T-Spot/Q-Gold within 1 year)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific drug panels
