Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Job Details

• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift Ratios:

  • Med/Surg Days: 1:5-6
  • Med/Surg Nights: 1:6-7
• Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
• License: New York RN license required
• Certifications: BLS required
• Electronic Health Record: EPIC experience required
• Return to Office (RTO): Only one holiday off; total time off 7 days or less
• Local Radius: 75 miles (local candidates accepted at a reduced rate)

Required Credentials & Documentation

• Licenses & Certifications:

  • NY State RN License (primary source verification)
  • BLS (AHA strongly preferred)
  • ACLS, PALS, TNCC as applicable (AHA preferred)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (if assigned to ICU, PCU, ER, CT ICU, or 7th Floor Med/Surg)
  • Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (New York specific, annual)

• Background Checks:

  • Standard 7-year background check including SS trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender registry
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (annual)
  • Education verification and Florida Education Audit Confirmation (for RN/LPN)

• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific N95 masks required)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (PPD, Quantiferon Gold acceptable; Tspot not accepted)
  • Immunizations or positive titers for:

    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella (or documented chickenpox history)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Sept 1 - Mar 31)
  • Pneumonia vaccination or declination required
  • COVID-19 vaccines preferred but not required

Competency Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% or meet Angoff score)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for ICU, PCU, ER, CT ICU, 7th Floor Med/Surg; expires every 3 years)
• Color blindness testing (required prior to start)
• Skills checklist (annual)

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Photo for badge (headshot, plain background, no head coverings)
• Completion of online learning modules prior to first shift
• Signing of facility-specific job description, welcome packet, Omnicell form, and pneumococcal declination if applicable
• Emergency contact form required prior to start

References

• 2 professional references required for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles
• 1 professional reference required for per diem non-acute care roles
• Not required for non-clinical roles
• References must be within 3 years of start date

This position requires a strong background in Med Surg nursing with EPIC experience and adherence to New York state licensing and certification standards. Candidates must be prepared to complete all required documentation, health screenings, and competency exams prior to starting the contract.
