Job Details

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Orientation: Bi-weekly
  • On-Call: 36 hours every 6 weeks
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 2 weekends per month
  • Nurse-Patient Ratio: 1:2 in Labor & Delivery unit
  • Float required
  • No time off allowed during major holidays (Valentine's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day) unless approved onsite after arrival

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted
  • NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • AWHONN (Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) or NCC for Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) - Intermediate or Advanced level required for L&D, OBGYN, Mother & Baby units

Note: Certifications must be actual certificates (no screenshots/photos) and valid for at least 45 days beyond assignment start date. Renewals must be uploaded 5 days prior to expiration.


Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Background check must cover 7 years and include:
    • SSN Trace with complete address history
    • Alias names verification
    • National Sex Offender, Criminal, OIG, SAM, State Abuse Registry, OFAC, FACIS III, Federal Criminal Extended Search, and International searches as applicable
  • Background checks must be completed within 45 days of start and updated annually
  • Drug testing required within 45 days of start, covering a comprehensive panel including Amphetamines, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Cocaine, Fentanyl, Marijuana, Opiates, and others
  • Color Blind Testing required within 12 months prior to start (Ishihara test or online test)
  • Competency exams required including Medication Test/Pharmacology, Dysrhythmia/EKG (except L&D, Psych, LTC, Mother-Baby), Core Parts I, II, III with minimum 80% pass rate updated annually

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, signed by MD, DO, NP, APRN, or PA (Chiropractor not accepted)
  • Negative TB test (QGold or Skin Test) within 1 year; if positive, clear chest x-ray within 10 years plus questionnaire
  • Immunizations or titers required for:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B (vaccine series, titer, or declination)
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccine required for 2025-26 season (no declinations accepted; exemptions only for medical or religious reasons with proper documentation)
  • TB Questionnaire required
  • Photo for badge (passport style, solid background, no filters or facial piercings)

Documentation and History

  • Employment application with 7-year work history, no unexplained gaps over 30 days
  • Two supervisory references from past 3 years required
  • Skills checklist updated within the last year, unit-specific
  • State nursing license verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
  • Background Check Alias Name Attestation if applicable
  • Onboarding attestation and review of facility-specific onboarding documents required

Additional Notes

  • Travelers must comply with all facility-specific onboarding and documentation requirements
  • All certifications, background checks, and health documents must meet facility standards and timelines
  • Time off requests during holidays are generally not accommodated unless approved onsite

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with Labor & Delivery expertise who meet the certification and compliance requirements and are available for a 13-week travel assignment in Knoxville, Tennessee.
