Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Lafayette, Indiana

    • Weekend shifts required
    • Guaranteed hours:
      • 8 and 10 hour shifts totaling 40 hours/week
      • 3 shifts of 12 hours = 36 hours/week
      • 4 shifts of 12 hours = 48 hours/week
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs
  • Travel Pairs: Not accepted
  • Local candidates: Not accepted
  • Pending License: Accepted if IN, compact, or temporary license is in hand prior to start
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays

Experience & Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: Minimum 18 months in specialty
  • First-time travelers: Accepted
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
  • Certifications Required:
    • ACLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
    • BLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
    • NIH Stroke Certification (preferred)
  • Special Skills Required:
    • Telemetry
    • IV Start
    • Cardiac & Vasoactive drips (e.g., Levo, Dopa, Nitro, Cardizem, Amio)
    • BiPAP and High Flow Oxygen
    • Level I-IV monitoring
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Ventilator experience
    • Charge Nurse experience
    • Conscious Sedation experience

Unit Information

  • True ICU Stepdown unit with cardiac and medical patients
  • Procedures include heart catheterizations, BiPAP, cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • PCU Crisis Criteria applies

Licensing

  • Must have Indiana RN license, compact license, or temporary license prior to start
  • Online license verification required within 30 days before start

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
  • Background checks including:
    • 7-year work/lived history
    • SSN Trace
    • County, Statewide, National Sex Offender checks
    • FACIS Level III
    • Education verification
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Transcript or diploma (official copy)
  • Education verification by 3rd party
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology competency exam
  • Unit competency exam
  • Color Blind Testing (Ishihara or equivalent, 100% minimum score)
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months (specific approved respirators required)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred)
    • TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON, or T-SPOT) within 1 year
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required, no declinations accepted
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination/documentation required (no declinations accepted)
  • References: Minimum 2 from recent employment with supervisory titles, verified within 2 years
  • Employment application covering last 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
  • Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
  • Completion of facility-specific compliance and orientation documents prior to start

Additional Notes

  • Scrub color: red top, black bottoms
  • Charting system: Cerner
  • Parking: Free
  • IU Health will not allow Indiana RNs to work at their facilities after 11/30/24 except for Periop/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (not applicable here)

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 18 months of experience in telemetry and cardiac stepdown care, comfortable with weekend shifts and holiday coverage, and holding the required certifications and licensure for Indiana.
