Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN) - Rochester, NY

Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Start Date: January 20, 2026
Shift: 4x12 hour night shifts
Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
Location: Rochester, New York


Specialty & Experience Requirements

  • Specialty: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry RN with Oncology experience
  • Required Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated, but oncology experience is mandatory

  • Must have a New York RN license in hand (no exceptions)
  • Must be located more than 75 miles from Rochester (locals not accepted)

Certifications & Skills Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Ability to manage patient ratios from 1:5 to 1:7 on MedSurg

Unit & Patient Population

  • 26-bed MedSurg unit caring for patients post PCI, pacemakers, AICDs, post MI, and cardiac pharmacological interventions
  • 36-bed Hematology/Oncology unit with a developing Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) program
  • Fast-paced, high acuity unit with patients receiving chemotherapy, recovering counts, or admitted with chemo side effects
  • Opportunity to cross-train in the Medical ICU (MICU) to better serve the patient population
  • Cohesive and fun-loving staff environment

  • Total staffed beds: 528
  • Scrub color: Any combination of navy and white
  • Charting system: EPIC

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • 7-year criminal background check (including felony checks) within 3 months of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months of start and run monthly
  • Education verification from primary source required (no hard copy degrees accepted)
  • Foreign equivalency evaluation required if education obtained internationally
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season
  • Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start
  • COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

  • Photo for badge (passport-style with solid background)
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgement
  • State license primary source verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as required
  • Color blindness testing required (one-time)
  • Competency exams as required by specialty
  • References (2 within 3 years) required for Aya candidates only
  • Employment application and work history verification required
  • Skills checklist required annually

  • Locals within 75 miles are not eligible for this travel assignment
  • First-time travelers are accepted
  • Cross-training opportunities available in MICU for oncology/BMT staff
