Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Psych RN - Behavioral Health Nights)

Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Summary

  • Position: Registered Nurse (Psych RN) specializing in Behavioral Health, night shift
  • Prior travel experience is required (minimum 1 year)
  • Must be licensed to work in Missouri
  • Pediatric experience is preferred

Required Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Behavioral Health)
  • Minimum years of experience: 1 year (based on "1 Year minimum" stated)
  • Prior travel experience: Required (explicitly stated)

Certifications & Licenses

  • State License: Must be licensed in Missouri
  • ACLS: AHA only (RQI not accepted)
  • BLS: AHA only (HeartCode accepted, RQI not accepted)
  • PALS: AHA only, required for all RNs except Case Managers
  • NRP: AHA 8th Edition Advanced Certification, as required
  • TNCC: Required for all ER/Peds ER (if applicable)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Required for Behavioral Health RNs going to Crisis Center (check unit specifics)
  • NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs
  • Pass/Fail Testing: Medication calculation/dosage test required for RNs (100% passing score, three attempts allowed)

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Background check within 3 months of start, including all counties worked or lived in past 7 years, sex offender search, statewide search for Missouri and Kansas
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated every 6 months
  • Missouri Highway Patrol Check required
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start
  • E-Verify or Attestation proof required
  • Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service
  • Residency Declaration Form if working on a compact license

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam: Initial and annual update attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Vaccination within 10 years of start
  • Negative TB or Chest X-Ray: Two PPDs or equivalent testing within specified timeframes
  • Annual TB Questionnaire
  • Proof of vaccination or titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (3 vaccines, titer, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption required annually (no declinations accepted)
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance or Respirator Questionnaire (RespSafety accepted)

Competency & Skills Verification

  • Pediatric pharmacology competency exam (as applicable)
  • Pediatric competency exam (as applicable)
  • Pediatric skills checklist (as applicable)
  • Color Blind Testing (required for clinical candidates)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing (RNs only)

Additional Requirements

  • References: Two supervisory references or performance evaluations within 1 year of start
  • Performance evaluation if employed with agency >12 months
  • Employment application/resume required
  • Facility-specific forms and health documents must be completed prior to or immediately after start
  • Parking permit request must be completed prior to start
