Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (L&D) - Travel/Contract

Location: Attleboro, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse
  • Shift: 12-hour night shifts (19:00 - 07:00)
  • Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
  • Unit: 15-bed Labor and Delivery unit with inpatient rooming-in for infants; newborn nursery used as needed
  • Patient Age Group: Neonates and Adults
  • Medication System: Omnicell
  • Communication Method: SBAR
  • Charge Nurse: Not required or preferred

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of L&D nursing experience required
  • First-time travelers will be screened for experience and considered

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • AWHONN Beginner (required)
  • AWHONN Intermediate (preferred)
  • AWHONN Advanced (preferred)
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) - AWHONN Beginner required (valid for 2 years)

Competencies

  • Age Specific Competency Exam (required)
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (Aya requirement only, not facility)
  • General Competency Exam (Aya requirement only, not facility)

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start (not required annually if contract is extended)
  • N95 Fit Test within last 6 months (specific approved masks required)
  • Immunizations and Titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap once after age 18, then Td every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2-step PPD or equivalent; annual TB questionnaire for past positives)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Immune titer or 2 vaccines with 2 boosters if titers negative/equivocal
    • Hepatitis B: Immune titer with numerical value or signed declination; 3 boosters if titers negative/equivocal
    • Varicella: Immune titer or 2 vaccines with 2 boosters if titers negative/equivocal (documented disease not accepted)
    • Hepatitis A (required for food service workers only)
  • Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start (minimum 9-panel, instant tests acceptable; marijuana testing not required)
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (September - April); medical exemptions accepted with documentation; no declinations accepted without medical reason
  • COVID-19 Vaccine: Required; exemptions only accepted for medical or religious reasons with signed documentation
  • Facility-specific COVID exemption forms required if applicable

Background Checks and Documentation

  • Standard background check within 1 year prior to start (7-year search including SS trace, county, nationwide, sex offender)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search required for all travelers in MA
  • Statewide iCORI clearance required
  • Badge photo required (passport-style, shoulders up, plain background)
  • Compliance checklist, latex allergy questionnaire, personal information forms required prior to start
  • COVID-19 related documentation and declination forms as applicable

References

  • 2 professional references required for travel, allied, and per diem acute care positions (within 3 years)
  • 1 professional reference required for per diem non-acute care

Additional Notes

  • Prior travel experience is NOT explicitly required for this position
  • Charge nurse duties are not required or preferred
  • Facility does not allow pending background checks; all must be completed before start
