Registered Nurse - Pediatric Acute Care Float Pool
Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Float position within the pediatric acute care units at the Missouri location.
- Floating limited to similar specialties within the same facility/campus; unlikely to float to Kansas but KS license preferred.
- Pediatric or Pediatric Med Surge experience considered.
- Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts.
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate.
- Must be licensed to work in Missouri.
- Clean Nursys required.
- Preference for travelers with flexible schedules.
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Pediatrics)
- Minimum 1 year prior travel experience required.
- Pediatric or Pediatric Med Surge experience preferred.
Certifications Required
- ACLS (AHA only; RQI not accepted)
- BLS (AHA only; HeartCode accepted; RQI not accepted)
- PALS (AHA only; HeartCode accepted; required for all RNs except Case Managers)
- NRP (AHA 8th Edition Advanced Certification, as required)
- TNCC (required for ER/Peds ER)
- State License verification (MO license required; KS license preferred)
- NURSYS verification (required for all RNs)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) for RNs only (100% required on medication calculation/dosage test)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) required for RNs going to Crisis Center or Behavioral Health Techs (not required for 5 West Behavioral Health RNs)
Compliance & Background Checks
- Government issued photo ID required during hours of service.
- Background check within 3 months of start, including all counties worked/lived in past 7 years, sex offender search, statewide search for Missouri and Kansas.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated every 6 months.
- Missouri Highway Patrol Check required.
- Missouri EDL Search Results required.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam (initial and annual) attesting ability to meet physical demands.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years.
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray per facility protocol (2-step PPD or Qgold/T-Spot).
- Annual TB Questionnaire.
- Proof of immunizations or titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (3 vaccines, titer, or declination)
- Varicella
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start.
- Current seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption (flu declinations NOT accepted).
- Respiratory Safety Clearance or Respirator Questionnaire as applicable.
Additional Requirements
- References: 2 supervisory references or performance evaluations verified within 1 year of start.
- Performance evaluation if with agency >12 months.
- Pediatric skills checklist as applicable.
- Employment application/resume required.
- Facility-specific forms including health form, TB questionnaire, medication review packet, and time-sensitive contract forms must be completed prior to or shortly after start.
Schedule & Other Notes
- Start dates available in January.
- Night shift, 3 twelve-hour shifts per week.
- Floating only within similar pediatric specialties; no floating outside acuity level.
- Must have Missouri nursing license; Kansas license preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Flexible scheduling preferred.
This position is ideal for experienced pediatric travel nurses with prior travel experience seeking a float role in a pediatric acute care setting.
