Registered Nurse - Pediatric Acute Care Float Pool

Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Float positions within the Missouri facility, expected to float to other similar pediatric units on-site within the same campus.
• Minimal chance of floating to Kansas; therefore, candidates should have or be willing to obtain both Missouri and Kansas nursing licenses.
• Floating limited to similar specialties; no floating outside of acuity level.
• Pediatric Acute Care experience or Pediatric Med Surge experience considered.
• Day shift, 3x12 hour shifts.
• Local candidates are acceptable.
• Must be licensed to work in Missouri.
• Clean Nursys report required.
• Preference for travelers with flexible schedules.
• Prior travel experience is required.

Required Certifications

• ACLS (AHA only; RQI not accepted)
• BLS (AHA only; HeartCode accepted; RQI not accepted)
• PALS (AHA only; HeartCode accepted; required for all RNs except Case Managers)
• NRP (AHA 8th Edition Advanced Certification, as required)
• TNCC (required for all ER/Peds ER)
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
• Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) for RNs only (100% required on medication calculation/dosage test)
• State License Verification (Primary Source Verification)
• NURSYS Verification (required for all RNs)

Experience Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse in Pediatrics or Pediatric Med Surge
• Minimum Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume at least pediatric nursing experience.
• Prior Travel Experience: Required

Compliance & Background Checks

• Background check within 3 months of start, including all counties worked or lived in past 7 years, sex offender search, and statewide searches for Missouri and Kansas.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated every 6 months.
• Missouri Highway Patrol Check required.
• Missouri and Kansas EDL (Employment Disqualification List) search required.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam (initial and annual) attesting ability to meet physical demands.
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years.
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray per facility protocol.
• Annual TB Questionnaire.
• Proof of immunizations or titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (3 vaccines, titer, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Seasonal Flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted).
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start.
• Respiratory Safety Clearance or Respirator Questionnaire as applicable.

Additional Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID carried during hours of service.
• Proof of E-Verify or attestation.
• Residency Declaration Form if working on a compact license.
• Facility-specific forms including health form, TB questionnaire, medication review packet, and time-sensitive documents to be completed prior to or shortly after start.
• Pediatric skills checklist and competency exams as applicable.
• References: 2 supervisory references or performance evaluations within 1 year of start.
• Performance evaluations and internal evaluations if applicable.
• Employment application/resume required.
• Color Blind Testing (online) required for all clinical candidates.

Shift & Schedule

• Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3x12s).
• January start dates available.

Note: Candidates must be licensed in Missouri and preferably Kansas, have prior travel experience, and meet all certification and compliance requirements to be considered for this pediatric float pool travel nursing position.
