Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Pediatrics) - Travel/Contract
Location: Claverack, New York
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)

Job Description
Provide nursing interventions and medication administration consistent with a systematic problem-solving approach for comprehensive nursing care in a juvenile correctional setting. The role involves working with male and female juvenile offenders, some of whom may remain in custody until age 21.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain general medical inventory, including controlled substances
- Conduct medication administration
- Review and evaluate nursing intervention plans for youth health conditions
- Ensure interventions align with comprehensive treatment plans
- Participate in staff trainings
- Prepare required clinical and administrative reports
- Maintain infection control standards
- Serve as a member of the facility’s medical treatment team
- Additional duties to be discussed during the interview
Work Hours
- Evenings, 2 PM to 10 PM
- Sunday through Thursday with Friday/Saturday pass
Qualifications & Requirements
- Licensed and registered to practice nursing in New York State
- Certifications required:
- ACLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
- BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
- PALS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
- State License: Copy of professional license required
- Competency Exams: Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (for RNs), and general competency exam required
- Background Checks:
- Criminal background check including fingerprinting (to be completed onsite)
- Sex offender registry and other relevant searches within the last 7 years of locations lived/worked/schooled
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months prior to start
- TB questionnaire annually
- Vaccination documentation or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Drug testing (9 panel) within 1 year of start
- Flu seasonal vaccination or declination for 2025-26
- COVID-19 vaccine booster preferred but not required
- References: 2 required
- New York Statewide Central Registry clearance required for tracking purposes
Facility Setting
- Juvenile correctional facility serving male and female youth offenders
- Accredited by the American Correctional Association
- Population approximately 100 youth
- Located in the Hudson Valley region of New York State
