Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Telemetry (Travel/Contract)

Location: Saint Peters, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (1900-0730)
• Floating: Required to float between two facilities as needed
• Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
• Average Daily Census: 16
• Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4-6
• Charting System: EPIC (experience required)
• Certifications Required: NIH Stroke Certification, ACLS, BCLS
• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in Telemetry nursing (higher years of experience not indicated)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required; unit accepts first-time travelers
• Specialty Experience:

  • Telemetry nursing
  • Post cath lab management in inpatient setting
  • Neuro/stroke care experience preferred
• Patient Conditions:

  • Total joint replacement
  • Neuro spine
  • General surgery
  • Wounds care
  • Diabetic care
  • Medical COVID care
  • Oral surgery (starting mid-July)

Required Certifications & Competencies

• NIH Stroke Certification (must be updated annually unless otherwise noted)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
• Tele experience required
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (Aya requirement)
• Unit Specific Competency Exam (updated annually)

Licensure & Background Requirements

• Valid Registered Nurse license with primary source verification (NURSYS for Missouri)
• Government-issued ID required
• Criminal background check within 6 months (7-year search including statewide and nationwide checks)
• Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Education verification of highest nursing degree required
• State-specific background checks as applicable (Missouri Highway Patrol, MO EDL, MO FCSR)
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be valid throughout assignment

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test (N95) required and must be renewed annually
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (two negative PPDs or equivalent)
• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
• Drug screening as specified

Orientation & Facility Policies

• Some orientation outside typical shift hours required
• Must review and sign facility policies including:

  • HIPAA Acknowledgement (annual)
  • Latex Allergy Questionnaire (annual)
  • Confidentiality Form (annual)
  • Hand Hygiene Policy
  • Fingernail Policy (must adhere or risk being sent home)
  • Dress Code Policy
  • Float Attestation (acknowledging floating to multiple facilities)
• Orientation modules completed through WorkRamp (approx. 16 hours) required for all RNs and LVNs unless completed within last 6 months or 1 year as specified

Additional Notes

• Unit accepts first-time travelers; prior travel experience is not required
• Floating between facilities is mandatory
• Telemetry experience and post cath lab management experience in inpatient setting are important
• Neuro/stroke care experience is preferred
• Must be able to work nights and every third weekend
