Job Opportunity: EP Lab Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Brooklyn, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks


Position Overview

Seeking an experienced EP Lab RN for a mixed procedural unit supporting Cardiac Cath, Electrophysiology (EP), and Interventional Radiology (IR) with a shared prep and recovery area.

  • Schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (3×12s)
  • Shift Hours: 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM (11.5 hours with a 30-minute lunch)
  • Weekends: Not required
  • Call: Not required
  • Start Date: ASAP (targeted start January 26, 2026)

  • Average Daily Census: 7 patients
  • Number of Rooms: 2
  • Number of Beds: 12
  • Patient Population: Adults
  • Day Shift Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (higher value from all requirements)
  • Experience with 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratios
  • EPIC documentation experience required
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience not required)

  • Pre- and Post-Procedure Care in EP Lab setting
  • Medication competencies including:
    • Antiarrhythmics
    • Antihypertensives
    • Emergency medications
    • IV vasopressors
    • Procedural sedation administration & monitoring
    • Reversal agents
    • Thrombolytics
  • IV Therapy skills:
    • Blood product administration
    • Implanted ports care & maintenance
    • IV infusion pumps
    • PICC line care & maintenance
    • Starting and maintaining IVs

Professional Knowledge & Skills

  • ACT (Activated Clotting Time)
  • Cardioversion
  • Circulate Procedures
  • End-tidal CO2 monitoring
  • Infection prevention
  • Interpretation/Management of Dysrhythmias
  • Isolation precautions
  • Monitoring procedural sedation
  • Obtaining 12 Lead EKG/ECG
  • Pressure ulcer assessment/prevention
  • Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale
  • Sheath removal and monitoring
  • Topical hemostasis (D-Stat, Chito-Seal, Syvek Patch)
  • Vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose)

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

Technology & Systems

  • Medication Management: Omnicell
  • Documentation: EPIC
  • Communication Framework: SBAR

Additional Information

  • Orientation: 11.5 hours
  • Scrubs: Provided
  • Floating: Required to Cath Prep/Recovery area

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start (including social security trace, state and nationwide searches)
  • Education verification for nursing degree
  • State license verification (NY license required with hard copy)
  • Drug screening per Aya standard (9 panel) within 1 year of start
  • Various health documents required including:
    • Physical exam (within 1 year)
    • Fit mask test (N95) within 1 year
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
    • Titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption by November 1

Competency Exams & Training

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (Relias)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (pass/fail, time sensitive)
  • Core Parts I, II, III (annual, Relias)
  • OSHA Mandatory Training (annual, Relias)
  • NY Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (annual)
  • Facility-specific onboarding and education modules (to be completed within 30 days of start)

References & Work History

  • Two manager/supervisor references required (charge nurse references generally not accepted)
  • Verification of all current and previous employment (up to 7 years)
  • Skills checklist updated annually

This position is ideal for RNs with EP Lab experience seeking a short-term travel contract in a well-established hospital setting with a stable schedule and no weekend or call requirements.
