Job Opportunity: Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Saint Joseph, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Specialty: Stepdown Unit
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year nursing experience (RN)
- Education: BSN preferred
- Licensure:
- RN State License and/or Compact State Licensure required
- Pending license accepted but must be active prior to start

- Multiple clinics offering urgent, primary, specialty, and emergency care
- Only tertiary hospital between Kansas City and Omaha
- Charting system: EPIC

Required Certifications
- RN State License (Primary source verification within 30 days of start)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC (must state "Basic Life Support")
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (RQI acceptable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (annual requirement for Acute Hospital RNs)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required for Emergency Department RNs prior to start; ICU RNs only if assignment exceeds 1 year
- Pass/Fail Testing: Basic Dysrhythmia exam required (minimum 84% to pass; ICU has one attempt only)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Required if extending contract or for specific units (Emergency Department and Mental Health RNs/LPNs must attend Advanced CPI onsite)

- National Criminal Check
- State and County Searches (10 years, all aliases)
- SSN Trace
- National Sex Offender Check
- FACIS Level 3
- EPLS/GSA/SAM
- HHS/OIG
- Education verification (official transcript or diploma with graduation date)
- Missouri EDL Search within 30 days of start
- Employment application and verification of most recent employer
- 2 professional references within last 3 years
- Skills checklist
- Confidentiality Agreement and Code of Conduct acknowledgment
- Agency Nurse Orientation Quiz (minimum 84% to pass)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within last 12 months (not required annually)
- Fit mask testing completed onsite at orientation
- Negative TB test (PPD, Q-Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year, updated annually
- For positive TB results, chest x-ray within 6 months and annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations or documented immunity/declination for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (vaccination series, titer, or declination)
- Varicella
- Drug screen within 30 days of start (not required annually) covering multiple substances
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season or agency-approved medical/religious exemption (mask required if exempt)
Competency Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (same requirements as Pass/Fail Testing)
Additional Notes
- Locals within 50-mile radius accepted at a reduced rate
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
