Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele Float)

Location: Saint Joseph, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit: Rapid Observation Unit
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour day shifts (07:00 - 19:30)
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Registered Nurse)
  • Education: BSN preferred
  • Certifications Required:
    • RN State License and/or Compact State Licensure (pending license acceptable but must be in hand prior to start)
    • BCLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • Charting System: EPIC
  • Parking: Free

  • Level II Stroke Center
  • More than 60 hospital and area clinics offering urgent, primary, specialty, and emergency care
  • Only tertiary hospital between Kansas City and Omaha

Required Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS: AHA only (RQI acceptable)
  • BLS: AHA (RQI acceptable) or ARC (must state "Basic Life Support")
  • PALS: AHA only (RQI acceptable)
  • TNCC: Required for Emergency Department RNs prior to start; ICU RNs only if assignment exceeds 1 year
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Required annually for Acute Hospital RN/LPN/LVN in specified units including Rapid Observation
  • Basic Dysrhythmia Exam: Required for all RNs and LPN/LVNs; must score 84% or higher; 2 attempts allowed (1 attempt only for ICU)
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required as applicable
  • Competency Exam: Required as applicable
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Required if extending past initial contract or for Emergency Department and Mental Health units

Licensure & Verification

  • Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification required
  • Tech Cert Verification (National) required within 30 days of start

Background & Screening Requirements

  • Background check within 30 days of start including:
    • National Criminal Check
    • State and County Searches (10 years, all aliases)
    • SSN Trace with all aliases
    • National Sex Offender Check
    • FACIS Level 3
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check required
  • HHS/OIG check required
  • Education verification (official transcript or diploma with graduation date)
  • Missouri EDL Search required within 30 days of start

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within last 12 months (not required annually)
  • Fit mask testing completed onsite
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually; additional requirements if positive TB
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity (2 doses or positive titer or declination accepted) for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series, titer, or declination accepted
  • Drug screen within 30 days of start (not required annually) covering multiple substances
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season; mask required if exempt

Documentation & Compliance

  • Confidentiality Agreement and Code of Conduct must be reviewed and signed
  • Agency Nurse Orientation Quiz must be completed with a score of 84% or higher prior to start
  • Employment application, skills checklist, work history verification, and 2 professional references within 3 years required

Additional Notes

  • Locals accepted at a reduced rate within a 50-mile radius
  • Pending license candidates must have license in hand before starting
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with at least 2 years in the specialty, who hold or are eligible for Missouri licensure, and who meet the required certifications and health documentation standards.
