Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Telemetry (Travel/Contract)
Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

Job Description
- Work in a Cardiac Specialty Unit focused on telemetry patients.
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend or 2 weekends per month.
- Patient ratio: 1:7-8 (may use team nursing model with ratios greater than 8).
- Float required; no on-call duties.
- Travelers requesting time off during holidays will generally not be accommodated (holidays include Valentine’s Day, local spring break, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, local fall break, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day).
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the specialty.
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted; must be current and valid for at least 45 days beyond assignment start.
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification) - Required for all RN candidates; actual downloaded certification required.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Preferred.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam - Required within 12 months prior to start; minimum score 80%.
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit specifics (check with program management if unclear).
Required Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam.
- Color Blind Testing (Ishihara test or equivalent) within 12 months prior to start.
- Competency Exams (Core Part I, II, III) with minimum 80% pass rate, updated annually.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (minimum 80% score within 12 months).
License Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Tennessee.
- License verification must be current and valid for at least 45 days beyond assignment start.
- NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start.
Health and Background Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, signed by MD, DO, NP, APRN, or PA confirming fitness for duty.
- Negative TB test (QGold or Skin Test) within 1 year; chest x-ray if prior positive.
- Drug testing within 45 days of start covering a comprehensive panel of substances.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccine (for 2025-26 season), with documentation or valid exemptions.
- Background check completed within 45 days of start, including 7-year history and alias name attestation if applicable.
- References: 2 supervisory references from employers within the last 3 years.
- Employment application with 7-year work history, no unexplained gaps over 30 days, and active nursing license details.
Additional Requirements
- Must pass EKG testing before start date.
- Photo for badge with solid background, no filters or facial piercings.
- Onboarding attestation and review of facility-specific documents required.
- No prior travel experience explicitly required.

This is a travel/contract Registered Nurse position in a telemetry cardiac specialty unit requiring at least 2 years of RN experience, current BLS and NIHSS certifications, and preferred ACLS certification.
