Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)

Location: Lees Summit, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Medical Intermediate (MI)
  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12-hour shifts (18:45 - 07:15)
  • Patient Ratio: 1:5
  • Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in Medical-Surgical Intermediate (MSI) or Telemetry
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted
  • Weekend Requirement: 8 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule period (Friday/Saturday/Sunday)
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: Regular floating within scope may be required between departments, units, and facilities
  • Holiday Shifts & Charge RN Assignments: As needed
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted (must live at least 75 miles from facility)
  • Pending License: Not accepted
  • Return to Office Restrictions: No more than 7 days
  • Guaranteed Hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks
  • Special Patient Care: Post-cardiac catheterization patients

Required Qualifications

  • License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Missouri
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Skills:
    • Telemetry monitoring on the unit
  • Additional Certifications (may be required depending on unit):
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
    • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
    • CPI/MAB (Crisis Prevention Institute/Management of Assaultive Behavior)
    • Other unit-specific certifications as applicable

Experience & Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Medical-Surgical Intermediate or Telemetry nursing
  • Prior travel experience not required
  • Must be able to float within scope to meet facility needs
  • Must be willing to work required weekend shifts and holiday shifts as assigned

Facility & Work Environment

  • Community hospital with 240 staffed beds, including a 16-bed ICU
  • Charting system: EPIC
  • Scrub color: Navy
  • Free parking available

Compliance & Background Checks

  • Government-issued ID required
  • Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
  • Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Education verification required prior to start
  • Fingerprinting required for assignments at or floating to long-term care or rehab units in Illinois
  • State-specific background checks for Missouri and Illinois as applicable

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask (N95) testing and annual renewal required
  • Immunizations and titers required or declination forms for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a full panel of substances
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season

Competency & Documentation

  • Unit-specific competency exams required annually (including medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, oncology if applicable)
  • Skills checklist within 1 year of start
  • Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
  • Employment application required
  • Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgements (HIPAA, confidentiality, hand hygiene, dress code, etc.) must be completed prior to start
  • Orientation modules (~16 hours) required for all RNs, completed through online platform

Additional Notes

  • Floating between units and departments is expected
  • No block scheduling accommodation
  • Must adhere to facility policies including fingernail, dress code, and hand hygiene policies
  • Candidates must have a clean background and meet all compliance requirements to start
