Job Details

• Shift: 7:30 AM – 7:30 PM
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend (EOW)
• Unit Accepts 1st Time Travelers: No
• Locals Accepted: Must live more than 50 miles away
• Patient Diagnoses: COPD, Pneumonia, Non-specific abdominal pain, Cellulitis, Chest pain rule out
• Ratios:

  • Days: 1:6
  • Nights: 1:7
  • Weekends: 1:8

Required Experience

• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty (Registered Nurse, MS/Tele)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not accepted for first-time travelers (implies prior travel experience required)

Required Certifications & Skills

• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred but not explicitly required for this role
• Skills:

  • Medical-Surgical/Telemetry experience
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Use of Rapid Response/Code teams
  • Peripheral line care/management
  • Oxygen administration (Nasal Cannula, Oxygen tanks)
  • Non-invasive airway management
  • Isolation precautions

License Requirements

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for New York State
• NY State online license verification required within 30 days of start

Additional Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check including all aliases
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Education Verification: Required for nursing degree
• Health Requirements: Must complete within 5 days of contract signing (if booked within 30 days of start)

  • Physical exam (within 1 year)
  • Fit mask test (annual)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
  • Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug testing (per current policy)
  • Flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
  • Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year
• Competency Exams:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency
• Other:

  • Photo for badge (passport style)
  • Harassment prevention training (annual)
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment
  • Various facility-specific policy reviews and attestations

• This position does not accept first-time travel nurses; prior travel experience is required.
