Job Opportunity: Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Specialty: Registered Nurse – Behavioral Health with Med Surg experience
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Pediatric Behavioral Health and Medical-Surgical RN role
- Shift options: 3x12-hour shifts or 4x12-hour shifts
- Required experience: Behavioral/psychiatric and medical-surgical nursing experience
- Pediatrics experience preferred
- Patient ratios typically 1:3 or 1:4, similar to other inpatient units
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of Behavioral Health experience within the last year
- Psychiatric experience
- Medical-Surgical nursing experience
- Minimum 1 year or more of total travel nursing experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Additional Requirements
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually
- Annual TB questionnaire and testing as required
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (flu declinations not accepted)
- References: Two supervisory references or performance evaluations verified within 1 year of start
- Skills checklist and competency exams specific to pediatric nursing
Work Environment
- Inpatient pediatric behavioral health unit with medical-surgical responsibilities
- Patient care ratios of 1:3 or 1:4
- Orientation and testing required prior to or during initial shifts
This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with behavioral health and med-surg pediatric experience who hold the appropriate state licenses and certifications, and who meet the facility’s compliance and health requirements.
