Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Neuro Med Surg Nights

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Details

  • Unit: Neuro Med Surg (Night Shift)
  • Patient Ratio: 1:6
  • Schedule:
    • Weekend requirement: 2 shifts every other weekend
    • Night shift weekends can be Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday depending on rotation
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (3 shifts of 12 hours)
  • Floating: May float within scope to any unit except ICU, SDU, and ED
  • Local Radius Rule: 75 miles
  • Pending License Accepted: Yes
  • First-timers Accepted: Yes
  • On-call: No
  • Block Schedule: Not accommodated
  • Locals Accepted: No

Required Qualifications

  • License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Missouri
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience preferred
  • Certifications:
    • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIH Stroke Certification (required for all nurses)
  • Additional Certifications (may be required depending on unit):
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
    • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
    • CPI or MAB (Crisis Prevention Institute or Management of Assaultive Behavior) if applicable
  • Background Checks:
    • Criminal background check within 6 months
    • State and nationwide searches as required
    • Education verification of highest nursing degree
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
    • Unit-specific competency exam (e.g., Oncology for Med Surg-Oncology Unit)
  • Physical & Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start
    • Fit mask testing (N95) annually
    • Required immunizations and/or titers: Tdap, TB screening, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
    • Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season

Additional Compliance & Facility Requirements

  • Documentation:
    • Government-issued ID (Driver’s license or state ID)
    • Photo for badge (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
    • HIPAA Acknowledgement, Confidentiality Form, Latex Allergy Questionnaire, Hand Hygiene Policy, Dress Code Policy signed prior to start
    • Regulatory Compliance Education completed annually
    • Background and state-specific checks as required by Missouri and Illinois regulations
  • References: Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
  • Skills Checklist: Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
  • Orientation: Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (approx. 16 hours) through online platform required for all RNs

Notes

  • Floating may be required but excludes ICU, Step-Down Unit, and Emergency Department.
  • Weekend shifts are mandatory every other weekend.
  • Locals within 75 miles are not accepted for this travel position.
  • Pending licenses are accepted to start.
  • First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.

This position offers an opportunity to work in an acute care hospital setting with a focus on neurological medical-surgical nursing during night shifts. The role requires strong clinical skills, flexibility to float within certain units, and adherence to comprehensive compliance and certification standards.
