Registered Nurse - Telemetry

Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work on a 32-bed Ortho/Neuro Med/Surg telemetry unit admitting orthopedic, neuro, and medical overflow patients.
• Night shift position with 36 hours per week, including every other weekend (EOW).
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.
• Floating to other applicable units may be required.
• Rotating shifts for day positions; night shifts do not rotate.
• Patient ratio:

  • Day and evening shifts: 1:4 (may go up to 1:5)
  • Night shift: 1:5 or 1:6
• Patient population includes scheduled elective orthopedic and neuro/surgical patients, fractures, neuro patients, and medical overflow.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience, including telemetry experience within the last year.
• Neuro assessment skills.
• Telemetry competency.
• Current Massachusetts RN license (no conditional licenses accepted).
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification preferred.
• Ability to interpret telemetry strips.
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR), preferably EPIC.

Required Onboarding and Compliance

• Documentation of immunizations and health screenings including:

  • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) immunity or vaccination
  • TB test within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity preferred
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
  • Health statement signed by a licensed provider within 1 year
• Criminal background checks including state and national registries.
• Professional license verification within 30 days of start date.
• N95 fit testing and respirator medical clearance (if applicable).
• Skills checklists and competency exams including medication exam and dysrhythmia exam (80% passing required).
• Submission of references and detailed resume covering the last 7 years of work experience.
• Completion of required forms and attestations prior to start.

Additional Information

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• Night shifts do not rotate; day shifts may rotate between 7a-7p, 11a-11p, or 7p-7a.
• Floating to other units may be required as needed.

This position is ideal for experienced telemetry RNs with strong neuro and med/surg skills seeking a night shift role in a specialized telemetry unit.
