Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – CVPICU
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Details
- Evening/Night shift
- 12-hour shifts: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required
Required Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a high acuity hospital setting
- Strong Pediatric ICU experience required
- At least 1 year of Cardiovascular (CV) experience required
- Candidates with strong Level II experience may be considered
- First-time travelers allowed if above experience criteria are met
Required Skills & Competencies
- EPIC electronic health record experience required
- Must pass a Telemetry test prior to start
Licensure & Certifications
- Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license required
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required
- Telemetry test pass required before starting
Additional Requirements
- Background checks including SSN trace, nationwide, sex offender, and state-specific caregiver screening (Wisconsin)
- Education verification as applicable
- Drug screening per standard clinical requirements
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination proof
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or immunity proof (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Varicella vaccination or immunity proof (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination form
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required annually during flu season)
- Meningococcal vaccine or declination if working in specific departments
Testing & Competency Exams
- Pediatric Telemetry Test (WorkRamp LMS) required for all pediatric inpatient RNs
- Adult Telemetry Test (WorkRamp LMS) required for adult specialties and Pediatric ER
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Pass/fail testing with remediation process for telemetry exams
Documentation & Compliance
- Physical exam (within 1 year) required to meet agency standards
- Signed orientation safety manual acknowledgment
- Photo for badge (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
- Employment application and skills checklist required annually
- References: 2 clinical references within the last 3 years (agency standard)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- At least 1 year of CVPICU experience within the last year
- Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a high acuity hospital setting
- Strong Level II experience
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
