Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Start Dates: May 4, May 18, or June 1, 2026
- Shift: Evening/Night shifts, 12-hour and 8-hour shifts as needed
- Typical hours: 1500-0330 or 1900-0730
- Weekend and holiday rotation required
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with both adult and pediatric patients
- Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Wisconsin RN license or Compact RN license
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association (AHA) only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification required
- Must pass a Telemetry test prior to start
Additional Requirements
- Must complete and pass facility-specific Telemetry testing (Adult and Pediatric as applicable) before starting
- Required to participate in weekend and holiday rotations
- Must comply with all background checks and verifications as per state and facility standards
- Required to complete Wisconsin state-mandated caregiver screening and BID form prior to start
- Must provide clinical references (2 within the last 3 years)
- Required to complete all mandatory competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as applicable
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Proof of immunizations or valid medical/religious exemptions for:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (vaccination series or declination form)
- Influenza seasonal vaccination or approved exemption (required annually)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (proof of at least one adult Tdap)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as per facility guidelines
- Meningococcal vaccine or declination if working in specific departments
Compliance & Documentation
- Must complete all required background checks including:
- Criminal background check within 90 days prior to start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire and monthly thereafter
- Education verification and license primary source verification required within 30 days of start
- Drug screening required per standard clinical candidate protocols
- Must submit a passport-style photo for badge issuance prior to start
- Required to acknowledge and complete orientation safety manual and pass/fail telemetry testing documentation

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- Telemetry testing is a strict requirement and includes remediation steps if initial attempts are failed
- All certifications must be current and issued by the American Heart Association where applicable
