Registered Nurse – Stroke/Neuro PCU

Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
Charting System: EPIC experience required
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
Floating: Required to float within skillset
Patient Ratio: Typically 1:5, staffing goal 1:4
Unit: Telemetry Progressive Care Unit specializing in stroke and neurology patients
IV Drips Managed: Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix, Lidocaine, Ketamine
Remote Telemetry: Monitors remain on unit; tele sitting used to increase Patient Care Tech coverage

Required Certifications

ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid RN license in Virginia
Minimum 1 year of experience in Telemetry Progressive Care Unit (PCU), preferably within the last year
Neuro PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
Experience with EPIC charting system
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Notes

Accepts first-time travelers but travel experience is preferred
Must work one holiday during the contract
Floating within skillset expected
Telemetry PCU with focus on stroke and neurology care
Staffing goal ratio 1:4, typical ratio 1:5
