Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – CVPICU
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day/Night, 12-hour shifts
- Day: 7:00 am – 7:30 pm
- Night: 7:30 pm – 7:00 am
- Schedule: Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required
- Unit: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with Cardiovascular focus (CVPICU)
- Experience Required:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a high acuity hospital setting
- Strong Pediatric ICU experience
- At least 1 year of Cardiovascular (CV) experience
- Candidates with strong Level II experience may be considered
- Travel Experience: First-time travelers allowed (no prior travel experience required)
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a high acuity hospital setting
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience
- Cardiovascular Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (CVPICU) experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
- Strong Level II experience
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including criminal history and caregiver screening per Wisconsin state mandates
- Education verification and licensure primary source verification
- Required immunizations and health screenings:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination proof
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or immunity proof
- Varicella vaccination or immunity proof
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination form
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
- Drug screening as per clinical standards
- Completion of facility-specific Telemetry exams and competency tests
- Signed orientation safety manual acknowledgment
- Submission of a professional photo for badge issuance
Additional Notes
- Candidates must complete Pediatric Telemetry testing through the designated learning management system with a passing score before starting
- Remediation and retesting policies apply for Telemetry exam failures
- References: Two clinical references within the last 3 years required
- Employment application and annual skills checklist required
This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized pediatric cardiovascular ICU setting with a reputable travel contract. Ideal candidates will have strong pediatric critical care and cardiovascular experience, be comfortable with EPIC, and meet all licensure and certification requirements.
