Job Opportunity: Pediatric OR Registered Nurse
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Start dates available: May 18, June 1, or June 8, 2026
- Pediatric Operating Room (OR), ambulatory OR, and pediatric trauma experience required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum of 1 year of Pediatric Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
- Experience working with pediatric patients, including pediatric trauma
- Experience in outpatient settings, including outpatient surgery
- Trauma experience relevant to pediatric care
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of pediatric OR or related pediatric trauma nursing experience (implied by specialty and required experience)
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including multi-location search for past 7 years
- Wisconsin Caregiver Screening within 90 days of start (state mandated)
- Education verification and transcript/diploma as applicable
- Drug screening per standard clinical requirements
- Physical exam (must meet agency standard, not facility required)
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (proof of one adult Tdap required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray with TB questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers, with medical/religious exemptions accepted
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer, with exemptions accepted
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination form if applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required annually during flu season)
- Meningococcal vaccine or declination if working in specific departments
Testing and Competency Exams
- Pediatric Telemetry Test (WorkRamp LMS) required for all pediatric inpatient units, including NICU, PICU, and pediatric units
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Pass/Fail testing for EKG/Medication competency required for pediatric specialties
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment and other facility-specific training
Additional Notes
- Photo for badge must meet specific guidelines (passport-style, no selfies, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
- Strict deadlines for completion of required exams and certifications prior to start date
- Facility requires ongoing monthly monitoring for certain background checks (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG) after hire
- References: 2 clinical references within the last 3 years required per agency standard
This position is ideal for experienced pediatric OR nurses with trauma and ambulatory OR experience who hold a valid Wisconsin or compact RN license and meet the required certifications and compliance standards.
