Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Telemetry
Location: Saint Peters, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: Telemetry Registered Nurse (Tele RN)
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts (1900-0730)
- Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
- Patient Conditions: Stroke care, post cardiac catheterization care, step-down unit or telemetry experience with stroke patients
- Unit accepts first-time travelers
- Average Daily Census: 16 patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-6
- Floating required between multiple nearby facilities as needed
- Every third weekend required
- Charting system: EPIC (experience required)
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
- Telemetry experience required
- Background in stroke care and familiarity with NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Experience with post cardiac catheterization patients
- Step-down unit experience or telemetry experience caring for stroke patients
Certifications & Licenses Required
- Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Missouri
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certification only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification only
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (must be updated annually unless otherwise specified)
- Additional certifications may be required based on unit assignment (e.g., CPI, MAB)
Schedule & Work Environment
- Night shifts, 12 hours each
- Floating between facilities as needed
- Every third weekend required
- Light gray/silver scrub color
- Free parking available
Orientation & Training
- Some orientation may occur outside typical contract shifts
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules required (approximately 16 hours)
- Annual compliance and regulatory education required
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Government-issued ID required
- Criminal background check within 6 months of start date (including statewide and nationwide searches)
- Education verification required (highest nursing education)
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, must remain valid throughout assignment
- Various state-specific background checks and registries as applicable
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing required and must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and health screenings required, including:
- Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframes
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
Additional Requirements
- Ability to float between multiple units/facilities
- Must complete unit-specific competency exams annually
- Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
- Adherence to facility policies including dress code, hand hygiene, fingernail policy, and confidentiality

- Adults and geriatrics with conditions including:
- Total joint replacement
- Neuro spine
- General surgery
- Wounds
- Diabetes
- Medical COVID care
- Oral surgery
