Description

Registered Nurse – MS/Tele Night Shift

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit & Shift Details

  • Unit: Neuro Orthopedics / Medical-Surgical Telemetry (MS/Tele)
  • Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (3 twelve-hour shifts)
  • Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients
  • Weekend Requirement: 2 shifts every other weekend (Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday for night shift)
  • Floating: May float within scope to any unit except ICU, Step-Down Unit, and Emergency Department
  • Block scheduling: Not accommodated
  • Local candidates within 75 miles radius are not accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
  • Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Government-issued ID required (e.g., driver’s license or state ID)
  • Criminal background check within 6 months, including:
    • Statewide searches
    • MO State Highway Patrol check
    • Nationwide and international searches if applicable
  • Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree required before start
  • Fingerprinting required for assignments involving Illinois long-term care or rehab units (not applicable here)
  • State-specific searches and registries as required for Missouri placements
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, covering a comprehensive panel of substances, must remain valid throughout assignment
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually; onsite testing available if needed
  • Immunizations and health documentation required:
    • Tdap vaccine or declination (no exemption for Bone Marrow Transplant Unit)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination with no exemptions allowed for certain units (e.g., Neonatal ICU)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Sept 30 – April 1)
  • Hepatitis B declination required (vaccination not mandatory)

Required Facility-Specific Documents (must be completed prior to start)

  • HIPAA Acknowledgement (annual)
  • Latex Allergy Questionnaire (annual)
  • Confidentiality Form (annual)
  • Regulatory Compliance Education and quiz (annual, must score 80% or higher)
  • TB Questionnaire (annual)
  • Hand Hygiene Policy acknowledgment
  • Fingernail Policy acknowledgment
  • Dress Code Policy acknowledgment
  • Orientation modules via online platform (approx. 16 hours) required for all RNs unless completed in current calendar year
  • Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)

Additional Requirements

  • Employment application must be submitted and uploaded
  • Two professional references required (supervisors preferred, within last year if possible)
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
  • Performance evaluations may be requested but are not mandatory for extensions or per diem status

Notes

  • On-call is not required
  • No special requirements or accommodations for block scheduling
  • Floating excludes ICU, Step-Down Unit, and Emergency Department
  • Return-to-Office restrictions: 7 days within the 13-week contract

This position offers an acute care hospital environment with 233 staffed beds, uses EPIC for charting, and provides free parking. Scrub color is navy.
