Description
Registered Nurse - PACU
Location: Newton, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule
- 2 shifts of 12 hours and 2 shifts of 8 hours per week, with varied start times
- Up to 3 call shifts every 6 weeks
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Massachusetts (MA Conditional Licenses not accepted)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Primary source verification of license and certifications required within 30 days of start date
- NURSYS and Board of Nursing (BON) verification required for nursing licenses
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
Health & Safety Requirements
- Fit Test for N95 respirator within 365 days of start date (no exemptions allowed)
- Respirator Medical Clearance attestation required if fit test is required
- TB test (skin test or blood test) within 3 months of start date, updated if break >6 months
- Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date, updated if break >6 months
- MMR vaccination or proof of immunity required
- Hepatitis B vaccination strongly preferred (or proof of immunity or declination)
- Tdap vaccination preferred (within 10 years)
- If positive TB test, documentation of negative chest x-ray required
Background & Compliance Checks
- Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start date, updated if break >6 months
- Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start date, updated if break >6 months
- Social Security Number trace for past 7 years addresses/employment/schooling
- National sex offender registry check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days of start, updated annually
Submission Requirements
- Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state
- Two references within 4 years, at least one supervisor or above in relevant skillset
- Skills checklist completed within 1 year of submission
- Candidate submission coversheet (current version)
- License/certification verification required for submission
- Name change documentation if legal name differs from credential documentation
Onboarding Requirements
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications must be current and verified
- Self-study orientation and attestation specific to the facility required
- Medication exam with 80% passing score within 365 days
- Confirmation of assignment/POI form upon acceptance and for any extensions
Additional Notes
- No religious or medical exemptions allowed for N95 fit testing
- Fit testing cannot be performed onsite; must be completed prior to start
- Some certifications accept AHA, Red Cross, CHSF, or Military; preference for AHA in certain hospitals
- Background check includes international residence or travel exceeding 30 consecutive days within last 7 years
This position is suitable for experienced PACU Registered Nurses seeking a 13-week long-term assignment with variable shifts and call responsibilities in Massachusetts.
